Welcome to "Waimarie" our homestead situated 5km southeast of Featherston in the North Island of New Zealand. Waimarie, pronounced why-mar-ee-ay is Maori for "sweet water". The house was built around 1896. We have lived here since 1988 and have been renovating the house and gardens ever since. Featherston is 60km's by road from the capital of New Zealand, Wellington. Between the two is the Rimutaka Moutain range. The road summit is 555m or 1820ft above sea level and the drive takes about 1 hour. The District is called "Wairarapa" and at the bottom of this page is a link to see more of where we live. Click here to see the view from the summit of the Rimutakas
